We are saddened by the tragic event that happened last May 21 during the Forever Summer Concert held at the SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City. The supposedly festive gathering has unfortunately led to the demise of five young people due to alleged illegal drug overdose.

We sympathize with the bereaved families and friends of the victims. Moreover, we are deeply concerned with the cause of the said tragedy. This is a reflection of the growing problem of illegal drugs in the Philippines.

Thus, WE STRONGLY CONDEMN THE PROLIFERATION, TRADING AND USE OF ILLEGAL DRUGS THAT VICTIMIZE PEOPLE ESPECIALLY THE YOUTH.

We therefore urge the rightful authorities to hasten the investigation of this case, and call on the youth and the citizenry to be vigilant. We also call for a stronger multi-stakeholder campaign against illegal drugs, and push for the promotion of initiatives to advance the welfare of the youth.

We strongly believe that through proper guidance and support, the youth can redirect their energy towards more meaningful and productive activities such as volunteerism. The YesPinoy Foundation and the #NowPH Movement for Climate Action are leading the way in providing alternative avenues to engage and empower the youth. In trying times such as this, the collaborative effort of the government, civil society, and the youth is much needed to ensure this generation’s protection and well-being.
